20+ years in mechanical engineering and the automotive trade.
"I realized the industry didn't need another fixed lift. It needed freedom—to move, to grow, and to take your tools wherever the work is. So I built it."
— Robert Hernandez, Founder & CEO
With 20+ years in mechanical engineering and the automotive trade, Robert kept hitting the same wall: professional mechanics were chained to one location by equipment that demanded concrete, permits, and permanent installation. Mobile mechanics lost the high-value jobs. Small shops couldn't adapt their space.
So in 2018, after months of machining, cutting, and welding, he built the first one himself. The prototype was ugly — no paint, plenty of rust — but it proved the idea. It became the first truly portable, professional-grade two-post portable car lift: a full 73½-inch lift with zero concrete, zero installation, and zero compromise on safety.
Today, Portable Car Hoist lifts everything from Miatas to semi-trucks in 1,000+ shops nationwide — each one hand-built in our Menifee, California facility.
The principles that guide every decision! Our vision is to revolutionize automotive freedom with expertly engineered portable car hoists. These lifts set the standard for strength, safety, and mobility, allowing mechanics and auto shops to work efficiently anywhere, without permanent installations.
To engineer and hand-build portable car lifts that match a fixed lift in safety and height while giving every mechanic, collector, and fleet the freedom to lift anywhere.
Why mechanics and shops choose Our Portable Car Hoist over traditional alternatives
